FRISKY LITTLE RASCALS......WHERE ARE YOU?

Somehow, I have lost track of the Traveling Pillows. I believe they are in California and somewhere in the dessert....maybe Arizona. The instructions/travel guide go with the Love-Message pillows, so if you receive a pillow without the instruction sheet, please let me know. Somehow, I trust I will get the pillows back in Feb. 2010, stuffed full of love messages that all of you have put in them.

Both have been sent to people I love and admire, respect and adore...I want to let each of them know, in a special - unique way, how much they mean to me. #1. BIG RED has gone to Encinitas, CA as its first stop. #2. SWEET ROSEBUD is traveling to Michigan for its first stop. Each loved person may keep their heart for up to 10 days, but must then relinquish their message and pass the heart and a new message on to someone they cherish. On Feb. 1, 2010, the Love-Message Pillows are to return to Carlsbad, CA.

Each recipient is being asked to send a quick email to: SomethingOldLinens@yahoo.com when they "pass the baton" so-to-speak, so I can track the adventures of the pillow. When they return in a year, they will be stuffed full in the back zippered pocket with messages of endearment, encouragement, praise and support for women all over the country.

What the world needs now is love, sweet love. That's the only thing that there's just too little of.
Think I'll write a song....(oh, that's right, someone beat me to it).

201F As fresh as a flower can be after a Spring rain, this beauty has wonderful old lace at the bottom, with green silk leaves, white petals and a wonderful faux pink gem in the center. Will look grand adorning anything! What fun! $10

202F   Love Neutral colors? This white on white pin (showcased on pink so you can see the details; pink cloth is not part of the pin) is crafted of some vintage and new lace, a pink and white spotted paper flower, and a wonderful old white button at the center.   Great paired with hot colors or on black for a great black-and-white showoff.   Ten dollars brings it to you.

203F    Lots of fun going on with this funky, frilly pin.   Some lace "drips" from the bottom, and white pearls add some "class" to the sides and center. The pale blue and white paper petals are topped with a pretty sky blue petal set.    Another great one on white, colors, or a black jacket.   Yours for a measly $10.

204F    Ah, the funk is on......... I haven't a clue where I got this "SUNBELT" metal button. Isn't it great? A frill of brown lace rests on the bottom of the pin, with a wonderful black silk petal set, that great Sunbelt button next, and all topped off with a splendid, itsy bitsy antique button in the center. I love this one.
I'll give it up for your $10 .... won't this look terrific on a jeans jacket, or a little black dress that is dying for a little statement??

205F   Ah yes, and then a black flower can also be..........sophisticated.
Try this lovely pin on a hot yellow or orange....or maybe you want to do a black-and-white theme with something jazzy. 206F   This very perky flower pin has SUMMER written all over it.   (The turquoise fabric and S.O.L. tag under the pin are there to show off the packaging of the pin, so try to imagine the pin without it!)
Pale yellow petals form the base of the pin, with a great piece of white lace carefully cut out to show off the lace flower design, then topped with a sunny SUNFLOWER petal set. A super old turquoise button with a great star-shaped pattern lies smack in the center where it will get lots of deserved kudos.

209F   PURPLE majesty    --- there is white lace at the bottom of this pin, topped with 3 shiny green leaves, a great paper heart of yellow and chartreuse, topped with creamy white flower petals, a purple petal flower, a button and FINALLY, a pearl at the center to bring this whole creation together. Phew! That's a lot going on, but what a wonderful, funky pin. I can see this adorning a summer hat, can't you? Or a great summer white sun dress. Off to the races? This one can go on that summer dress for a "dress me up -- please" response.   Oh please, only ten bucks.   Who wants this one???

210 F    Sea shells anyone? Organic, nature lovers take note! This green leaf sports a great splash of lace at the top, and a wonderful brown and green, organic looking shell latches on for dear life at the top.   Back to nature, and lots of fun to boot. Well, not much of an update! We know one of the love message pillows has traveled to the desert in CA, but which one? Last we heard, BIG RED was in NYC and SWEET ROSEBUD was filled with love in the deep south of Alabama. And there is a wonderful update that one of the pillows is now in the desert, enjoying some heat!? -- but which one?

February update -- SWEET ROSEBUD, poor thing, has a very bad chest cold and is snowed in in Bay City, MI. She has cabin fever, to be sure, and is ready to get out for an adventure to take a message of love further. When and where will she go next??

TOP DESIGN - Bravo TV's weekly contest for best room design -- I love this show (most of the time). This past week, the (maybe) subtle reference I loved was from Nathan's futuristic room design. Did you hear what he said??
     Nathan created a wall in his 100-years-from-now room, designed with racks to hold family heritage pieces.   Just as we do today, his room projects the importance of preserving our family's past treasures. Nice to know that at least one designer found a way to call out attention to the importance of preserving the past in future design.

Speaking of quilts:
I recently acquired some vintage quilt pieces -- someone in Ohio started a number of quilts, but never finished them. Because I love the challenge of re-cycling old vintage fabrics, I have worked these pieces into some new products, combining 1930's-40's vintage quilts into fun new pillows. Christmas pillows! Children's pillows! A blue pillow! They are going with me to some art fairs....so act quickly....these won't last long.

BELOW: Old Fashioned Christmas pillow
This quilt block pillow is hand-made, starting with old 1930's-40's vintage quilt block squares (featured in photo). New (old patterned) red/off-white star fabric surrounds the quilt square, and tiny green/off-white old fashioned check pattern completes the
pillow top. See next photo for back of pillow.

BELOW: pillow back
The Old Fashion Christmas Pillow featured above has a wonderful, all-cotton red fabric with white stars. Use either side for different design looks! The back has an easy to open velcro closure. Inside, a brand new very soft poly filled liner, washable.
The entire pillow casing is 100% washable cotton (recommend hand wash in cold - lukewarm water. Line dry, light iron. 19" x 19". Retail: $65 On-line price: $35. plus postage and handling.
